The GMAT exam is at your door! Are you ready to take it? Are you prepared to apply all your well-planned strategies on the test day? Are you nervous or underconfident whether your preparation for the test will work or not?
We will tell you about the do’s and don’ts you should follow before your life-changing GMAT exam.
The do’s before and on the GMAT test day
- You should make a daily routine of studying and follow it till the test day arrives because this will help your mind and body to focus on the test day. Here is the information regarding how to prepare: GMAT preparation
- Revise a few questions (actual GMAT questions) the night before, or before you leave for the exam next day, to get into the exam mode but don’t think too much about the answers.
- Try to have a good sleep so that you will feel fresh and can concentrate on your studies well.
- The morning of your exam, please stick to your daily routine, for example, if you have a habit of drinking black coffee, then have a cup and try not to change your routine before taking the test
- Arrive early at the test center, at least half an hour early, so that you can comfort yourself with your seating arrangements.
- Most importantly, carry your ID card, passport, and other much-needed credentials along with that you can carry something to eat and a water bottle.
- Do stay optimistic. Stay calm and work quickly but through the proper method, without rushing or jumping directly into conclusions. This are the common mistakes you have to avoid it : 13 Common mistakes made by GMAT test takers and how to avoid them
- Just tell yourself that you will not ponder over each question much and just keep answering because if you think hard, you might get confused and run out of time in the end. Here are the tips to manage time: Time management of 3 Hours 30 Minutes in the GMAT
- Try to answer all the questions which are asked in the test. You might be penalized if you leave questions unanswered. Just be confident and less worried.
- Not a single question must be out of your focus or pace.
- Taking breaks will help you recharge your brain so don’t sit in the examination hall during breaks thinking you need to focus instead just go for a walk or eat something and relax.
- Try to find out the location of your exam centre the day before the exam, if possible a few days earlier.
The don’ts before and on the GMAT test day
- Don’t keep cramming before the exam. If you are unable to solve some practice exam materials, don’t try hard to understand them right before the exam day. It’s not a good idea to try some new question patterns right at the end.
- Don’t ignore your sleep. Take enough sleep while doing preparation as it will make you free.
- Don’t think you can go to the exam centre without eating. That’s a gross idea because you don’t want your brain to run out of glucose.
- Don’t get nervous. Tell yourself that you have been working hard all these months so no way you are going to stuff your brain with a lot of questions the night before the exam. You can probably do something that you normally do on any other usual day.
- Don’t forget to check the GMAT programme database a day before so that you know the GMAT score recipients. You need to fill the recipient's names in a form before you begin writing the exam so go prepared with the names since this is a crucial step for your exam.
We hope this helps you out. Keep all the points of DO’S and DON’TS in your mind and crack the GMAT exam well so that you can achieve admission in the international institutions.
All the best!!!!
