It won’t be possible for you to read in dept and understand each point in this limited time of  1 min. Hence, without going too deep just quickly go through the given questions.
  • Identify the question and the keywords from the multiple-choice questions. Listen for numbers, names and milestones.
  • Glance through the diagrams, maps and graphs. Note the headings and keywords. Remember details on the X and Y-axis.
  • For transferring your answers from your question paper to the answer sheet you will be given 10 mins. You should do as fast as you can and at the same time write carefully to avoid spelling mistakes.

  • The IELTS Reading section has 40 questions from 3 passages which have to be answered in 60 minutes. The level of difficulty increases with each section. So one has to manage the time according to the difficulty level.

  2.  The second passage should be assigned 20 minutes
  3.  The third passage should be assigned 25 minutes.
  • For each passage, allot 3-5 minutes to look for errors and to check if you have written the right answer against the right answer number.
  • Spend 5 to 7 minutes to understand the main points of the passage.
  • Underline the keywords. This will help you while finding answers in the paragraphs easily.

  • Since Task 1 is simply descriptive, write down exactly what you see.
